A landlord is a person or business entity that possesses an asset and allows a tenant to use it in exchange for payment. Landlords, who are the owners of property, lease out their residential, industrial property or commercial property for money. Rental agreements occur legally through a rental agreement or lease, which states the terms of the agreement to lease.

As a property owner, you possess several responsibilities legally and ethically. A landlord must rent out a habitable property as per the law. Regular inspections of the property ensure no urgent repairs will need to be executed. Landlords must comply with housing-related laws, including property taxes and zoning laws.

They have to inform beforehand for entering into their rented premises, return of the Security deposit as per the rental agreement, professional approach to disputes. The landlord must maintain the electricity and heating system of the property’s structure and plumbing in efficient working order.
