New Delhi Railway Station – The Heartbeat of India’s Rail Network

 


It is one of the busiest railway stations in India. Located across Paharganj and Ajmeri Gate, this railway station is the main station of Delhi. This station manages visit of thousands of trains and lakhs of passengers in a day, therefore it is the life line oh Delhi.

The station was constructed in 1926 to cater to the new capital city built by British. It has been greatly expanded over the years, to meet a growing demand for travel. The New Delhi Railway Station currently has 16 platforms, with all platforms integrated with modern facilities like electronic display boards, escalators and lifts that caters to the large number of people who visit the station each day. The station is open 24 hours a day, like the city itself, to reflect its constant bustling motion.

The station connects Delhi with almost all the major cities in India, including Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Jaipur. Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express are the elite trains with source stations/stop-over at here. The station has better connections for the Delhi Metro, buses and to Indira Gandhi International Airport and thus ensuring ease for passengers to move.
