Empowering Voices Celebrations of International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day on 8th March is not a date on the calendar; it is a proclamation of the power, accomplishment, and contribution of women to humankind. It is a proclamation of hope, equality, and step forward that announces the way forward to creating a world that honors all.
The History of International Women’s Day
The history of International
Women’s Day dates as early as the beginning of the 20th century when
North America and European trade unions already had a long-standing
presence there. In the year 1911, in history, there is the very first
time such an occasion happened where more than a million women took to
the streets demanding equality for women, improved working standards for
laborers, and a vote for women. The day has been made an international
campaign, and the United Nations gives the day a theme each year.
