Mysuru, popularly known until recently as Mysore, is a city in southern Karnataka, India. It is noted for its historical significance, cultural heritage, and architectural monuments. Following are the highlights of Mysuru:

Key Attractions:
Mysore Palace: This is one of the most well-known palaces in India-very impressive and with excellent Indo-Saracenic architecture. During the festival of Dussehra, it is illuminated with thousands of lights.

Chamundi Hill: The Chamundeshwari Temple is situated on this hill, and it is an excellent pilgrimage, the panoramic city from here is insightfully beautiful.

Brindavan Gardens: These gardens are located at the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam. They are well-known for their musical fountain and vast, beautiful lawns.

St. Philomena’s Church: It is considered an architectural wonder and has a Neo-Gothic style. It is one of the largest churches in India.

Mysuru Zoo: It was named Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens. The zoo, ranked among some of the oldest and most well-managed ones in India, houses several species of animals.

Cultural Significance:
Dasara Festival: Mysuru Dasara is a 10-day-long celebration with pomp and glory, comprising a royal procession, cultural program, and light illumination at palaces.

Art and Craft: Mysuru has been famous for its art crafts, namely Mysore silk sarees, sandalwood items, and Mysore paintings.

Education and Research:
Mysuru also has institutions of higher learning like the University of Mysore, one of the oldest in the country and the CFTRI or Central Food Technological Research Institute.
Local Cuisine:
A few delicacies include the Mysore Pak, a sweet dish, Mysore Masala Dosa, Bisi Bele Bath
Getting There/away:
Mysuru has easy connectivity by road, rail, and air. It is at a distance of about 150 km from Bengaluru; thus, it is a must-visit weekend getaway.
Weather:
The city witnesses temperate weather throughout the year with heavy rains during the monsoon months starting from June and continuing back to September, which gives the city lush greenery.
A mix of historical magnanimity and rich cultural heritage makes Mysuru one of the most significant tourist spots in Karnataka.
