Banaras Hindu University Banaras Hindu University (BHU), located in Varanasi, India, is one of the largest and oldest residential universities in Asia. It was found in 1916 by the great nationalist leader Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, with a vision to provide high-quality education along with deep respect for India’s cultural heritage. The university spreads over some 1,300 acres of area, providing a very serene environment conducive to learning and research.
